Hi! I’m Catriona (pronounced Catreena. It’s a Scottish name)

After earning a degree in Business Studies with French in Sheffield, England, I established a successful career in marketing and public relations in London. When I moved to the US I began my second career in psychotherapy. I have an MA in Marriage and Family Therapy from Pacific Oaks College in Pasadena (part of The Chicago School of Professional Psychology). I trained at the Family Services Agency of Burbank working with young children, teens, adults, couples, and providing parenting classes.

I provide psychotherapy and coaching for adults, teens, and couples either online or in my office in Pasadena.

I tailor my approach according to you, your personality, and your goals for therapy. I use a combination of evidence-based practices including, EMDR, cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy (EFT), and mindfulness to help bring relief from symptoms of worry, stress, anxiety, and depression.  As part of the therapy process we will explore your past and examine key events and relationships in your life, as this can be where many issues were born. We’ll look at your current life and identify your strengths and challenges, then we’ll build a picture of what your happier, healthier future could look like. I use my strong business and creative background to help you develop successful strategies to improve work performance and business relationships.

I am trained and certified in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing therapy (EMDR) which, although it was developed to treat PTSD, is particularly effective in treating anxiety, some types of depression, and low self esteem. Call me to find out more about how EMDR can help you.

For couples therapy, I use Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) which is a proven therapy to bring about long lasting change for couples wanting to improve communication and the quality of their relationship.

Unlike many therapists who sit in silence, I take an active role in our therapy sessions and ask questions, make comments, start discussions, and may even set homework. For coaching, we will be working together to develop a plan for you to achieve your goals.
