EMDR
What is EMDR?
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), is a powerful, evidence-based therapy designed to help your brain heal from distressing or traumatic experiences.
When something overwhelming happens, your mind can store the memory in a ‘stuck’ state - replaying the emotions, images, or body sensations long after the event has passed. You might feel as though your past is following you wherever you go.
EMDR helps unlock and reprocess those memories so that they lose their emotional charge and can stay in your past. It is now used to treat a wide range of issues, including anxiety, depression, panic attacks, low self esteem, and more.
What can EMDR help with?
EMDR therapy can be beneficial for healing the emotional impact of trauma, anxiety, panic, grief, and painful memories that still feel ‘alive’ in your body or mind.
It can also help with low self-esteem, perfectionism, and chronic self-criticism - the lingering effects of experiences that taught you to stay on alert or doubt yourself.
EMDR helps your brain process those stuck memories so you can feel calmer, more grounded, and free to respond to life as it is now, rather as it once was.
