Healing from Trauma
Trauma is an adverse experience that can overwhelm a person’s ability to cope or process emotions. While you might tell yourself that your experiences were not nearly as bad as other people’s that doesn’t mean that you don’t deserve to heal and grow.
At Bounce we like to say, “It doesn’t matter if you’re drowning in 3ft of water, or 300ft of water. you’re still drowning.” So while the cause of the trauma might differ from person to person, the symptoms, and the need for healing, are similar. Common symptoms of trauma may include mood swings, depression, sadness, anger, shame or anxiety.
At Bounce! we believe that it takes more than just talk therapy to treat PTSD. Talk therapy can be too activating, or it just takes too long, and may not be effective enough. As such we use EMDR therapy (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) to help you manage your PTSD symptoms and heal from your past.
We’ll work with you to develop a plan to target the traumatic experience(s) and then we’ll move at a pace that suits you along the road to feeling better.
Ketamine assisted psychotherapy (KAP) has also been shown to be effective in treating trauma.
