  • Yes we are all in network with Aetna, so you only have to pay your copay each session (provided you have met your annual deductible).

Alternatively, we can provide a monthly superbill that you can submit yourself for reimbursement.

All insurance plans require a diagnosis in order to cover therapy sessions, and this diagnosis becomes part of your medical record. If this doesn’t appeal to you, you can choose not to involve insurance and just pay for sessions yourself.

We recommend you check your plan to learn about your out-of-network benefits and how much your plan will reimburse.

Please note, insurance will only cover a portion of EMDR sessions and Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy sessions.

  • Online therapy is a flexible and effective way to meet with your therapist if you’re not able to meet in person.

We’ll send you a link to meet online through our secure platform. We encourage you to find somewhere private and quiet and a stable internet connection is required

  • Yes! We have a beautiful office in an old, converted mansion house at 210 S Orange Grove Blvd, in Pasadena. It’s near the Ambassador Gardens where you’ll see Koi, turtles, ducks and geese.

It really makes a difference seeing your therapist in a pleasant, calming environment.

  • Prior to your first session you’ll be asked to complete some paperwork with some personal details and your goals for therapy.

During your first session we’ll ask questions to gather information about your personal, family, and medical history. Then we’ll ask more questions to learn more about what you’re going through and what will be different once therapy has ‘worked’.

You’ll get a good idea in that first session whether we’re a good fit for you and how much you like our style.

Together we’ll start developing a plan, shaped to your specific needs, to help you achieve your personal or professional goals.

  • For as long as you feel therapy is beneficial. Many people start by coming weekly and then as they start to heal they may switch to meeting bi-weekly or even less frequently, depending on your progress.

As we work together we will regularly check in with you to see how things are going and whether you want to adjust anything.

Some people graduate therapy after just a few months knowing they have made progress towards their treatment goals and are coping better with the stresses and strains of daily life.

Others like to continue benefiting from the support of skilled mental health professionals and continue to meet regularly, as their schedule allows.

  • We see children over the age of 16 for therapy. We have a long track record of helping teens and young adults who are experiencing anxiety, worry, stress, or dealing with their ADHD symptoms.

We will involve parents up to a point, per ethical guidelines, however it is important we keep the trust of teens and maintain confidentiality (as much as the law allows).

  • Despite the name, Marriage and Family Therapists (MFTs) mainly work with individuals to diagnose and treat emotional, mental, and behavioral disorders within the context of relationships.

We focus on how interpersonal dynamics affect mental health, using techniques to improve communication, resolve conflicts, and manage crises like divorce, addiction, or life transitions.

Licensed MFTs have gained their Masters degree and also complete 3,000 hours of relevant training in the field of mental health.

  • We are proud to offer the expertise of Associate therapists who are diligently working towards their licensure under Catriona guidance and clinical supervision.

Associate therapists have completed a rigorous Master’s degree, possess a strong foundation in psychotherapy techniques, and have already worked as therapists for a couple of years. They are committed to ongoing learning and development as they accumulate their clinical hours. This is reflected in their lower fees.

  • You are entitled to receive a ‘Good Faith Estimate’ (GFE) detailing the anticipated costs of your medical and healthcare treatments.

Under California law, healthcare providers need to give a written document to uninsured or self pay patients outlining expected charges for medical services, including psychotherapy services.

If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your good faith estimate, you can dispute the bill. Make sure to save a copy of your good faith estimate.

For questions or more information about your right to a good faith estimate, visit www.cms.gov/nosuprises or call (800) 985-3059.
